Statement from the Artist:

When I was working on my Bachelors of Art at UCSC, painting was my focus and portraiture was my obsession. Painting a person’s portrait has always felt like a very intimate meditation, even a spiritual practice.

I admire a wide range of art. I am equally excited by Keith Haring and by Matisse, and I love learning about contemporary artists, such as Bisa Butler and her fabric portraits.

One of the things I find most beautiful in life is Queerness, and I have spent a lot of time depicting queer and trans beauty in my paintings. Unfortunately, a large portion of my portrait portfolio has been lost, but with this gallery I hope to preserve my new work going forward.
