About the Artist

Aaron Dino Wall.JPG

Aaron Damon Porter is a third generation fine artist and illustrator.

Both grandfather George E. Porter, and father Dare Porter have been huge inspirations in the making of this fine artist. George was an oil painter and illustrator in New York during the 1940s through 60s, later in life turning towards metal sculpture. Dare recently retired from a 30-year career as a graphic designer, and now spends his days exploring assemblage sculpture and typography.

Aaron grew up drawing prolific piles of characters from his imagination. He and his father Dare would spend hours together exploring the properties of different mediums, from ink to sidewalk chalk, building blocks to fogged up mirrors. Everything held the potential for creative expression, a philosophy that Aaron has kept close as an adult.

After 14 years in New Orleans, showing his work on Jackson Square in the heart of the French Quarter Aaron relocated to Austin, TX in 2022.

About the Work

Pallete and Brushes.jpg

“My art has always emerged as collections.”

Aaron loves to explore concepts through reiteration, letting the medium drive the process. This frequently results in diverse but cohesive bodies of work, ranging from fine art portraits, to wildlife shadowboxes, to a whole world of cartoon dinosaurs!

Aaron works primarily in Acrylic Paint on canvas and wood supports, often embellishing with scrollwork, found objects, and fabric collage. The content of his work is fueled by a love for and fascination with the natural world.
